Matthew Curtis Painter (born August 27, 1970) [1] is an American basketball coach and former player, who is the current and 19th head coach of the Purdue Boilermakers, serving in that role since 2005. He played college basketball at Purdue from 1989 to 1993.

Painter officially became the 18th head men’s basketball coach in Purdue history on April 8, 2005, and immediately set about laying the groundwork for a dramatic reversal in the program’s fortunes. • Has averaged almost 24 wins a season in his 19 years at Purdue.
