Adnan Syed, whose murder case was chronicled in the "Serial" podcast in 2014, returned to a Baltimore courtroom as a judge considered whether to reduce his sentence under the Juvenile Restoration Act.

Meanwhile, Baltimore State’s Attorney Ivan Bates announced Tuesday that his office is withdrawing a previously filed motion to vacate Syed’s conviction in the 1999 killing of his high school ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee, who was found strangled to death and buried in a makeshift grave.

Syed, whose case garnered international attention after the “Serial” podcast, has a hearing Wednesday seeking to reduce his sentence and allow him to remain free.
