Multiple people have been killed in San Diego after a small plane crashed into more than a dozen houses in foggy conditions as residents slept early Thursday.
A wildfire that spread over hilly terrain in a rural area a few miles east of San Diego Zoo Safari Park, blackening 49 acres, was roughly 90% contained Saturday.
The fire was reported around 2:45 p.m. Friday on the 17700 block of San Pasqual Valley Road, according to Cal Fire. The fire burned near San Pasqual Academy. The fire had burned nearly 50 acres, but firefighters stopped the forward rate of spread by 6 p.m. Friday.
