Nvidia’s dominance over the latest generation of graphics cards ends today. AMD might have surrendered the high end of the GPU market, but its new $549 Radeon RX 9070 and $599 RX 9070 XT look set to bring Nvidia back to reality, at least in the midrange.

At $600, AMD's Radeon RX 9070 XT is just where it needs to be to compete for 4K gaming against the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti.

AMD has finally done it. For years it's tried to undercut NVIDIA with slightly cheaper, but less capable, video cards like the Radeon 6700 XT and 7900 XT. And sure, it's still following that same strategy with the new Radeon 9070 and 9070 XT.

The AMD Radeon RX 9070 launches March 6, starting at $549. However, this is just the starting price, and there will likely be many models that are more expensive. If you are going to get a 9070, my advice would be to get one as close to the starting price as possible, just because it's priced so closely to the Radeon RX 9070 XT.

That said, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX's memory bandwidth (384-bit/960GBps) and memory capacity (24GB) are undeniable advantages. The Radeon RX 9070 XT ships with a 256-bit memory interface and 16GB of GDDR6, which gives it 640GBps of bandwidth. That should be sufficient to avoid any major bottlenecks, but it is still less than some competing options.
