A new brush fire sparked Tuesday in Douglas County between Chatfield State Park and Daniels Park, according to South Metro Fire Rescue.

Firefighters from multiple agencies and a helicopter are battling a brush fire reported in Douglas County on Tuesday afternoon, not far from where another fire sparked over the weekend. Crews from South Metro, West Metro Fire Rescue, West Douglas Fire, and deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office have responded to the fire. South Metro said the fire is burning to the southwest at a moderate rate. The fuels that it's burning in are heavy timber, along with brush and scrub oak, fire officials said.
