CBS News confirmed that both were Carnival Cruise ship passengers on Caribbean trips with their families. They were sailing on the Mardi Gras and Carnival Elation ships. CBS described Celebration Key as "a private resort on Grand Bahama Island that only Carnival cruise passengers can use."

Two American Carnival Cruise Line passengers drowned just hours apart at the newly opened Celebration Key resort in The Bahamas on Friday.

Two Carnival Cruise Line guests drowned on Aug. 15 at Celebration Key in the Bahamas, one while snorkeling and the other in a pool. Both were American and had arrived on different cruises.
