The Dark Knight Rises actor Alon Aboutboul tragically passed away at HaBonim Beach in Tel Aviv, Israel, on the morning of July 29, 2025. He was 60 years old and was reportedly swimming in the water there before he came out and collapsed.

Aboutboul portrayed Russian nuclear physicist Dr. Leonid Pavel in 2012’s “The Dark Knight Rises,” the third and final film in Christopher Nolan’s “Batman” trilogy. Dr. Pavel is kidnapped by Bane (Tom Hardy) in the movie, which made over $1 billion at the box office.

Alon Aboutboul, the Israeli actor best known to U.S. audiences for appearances in “The Dark Knight Rises” and “Rambo III,” died suddenly Tuesday after collapsing on a beach in Tel Aviv. He was 60.
