As the Gloucester community mourns the loss of the seven people who were aboard a fishing boat that sank Friday off the coast of Cape Ann, fundraisers are collecting money for the families of two of vessel’s crew members.
The body of a crew member of a missing Gloucester-based scalloper was found in the Atlantic Ocean on Friday, along with an empty life raft and a small amount of debris, the US Coast Guard said. The emergency beacon on board the 72-foot FV Lily Jean activated around 6:50 a.m. Friday about 25 miles off the coast, the Coast Guard said in a statement.
