A bench dedicated to the people that flew, built and maintained the C-141 Starlifter was unveiled at the Aviation History and Technology Center in Marietta Saturday.
It was put together using the same Starlifter plane Lockheed had used to demo a civilian version of the C-141 that was never made. At its core, the plane was your basic Starlifter.
Now we were bringing them home, crossing the Atlantic together, as sailors and airmen, in the C-141 Starlifter, the Freedom Bird. We would work through the night on our westward night passage.
