Social media posts on the X account of the Grok chatbot developed by Elon Musk’s company xAI were removed on Tuesday after complaints from X users and the Anti-Defamation League that Grok produced content with antisemitic tropes and praise for Adolf Hitler.

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence start-up xAI says it is in the process of removing "inappropriate" posts by Grok on X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter, after users pointed out that the chatbot repeated an antisemitic meme and made positive references to Hitler.

Musk went even further, suggesting Grok could start discovering new technologies by the end of this year, and possibly new physics within two years.

The incident coincided with a broader meltdown for Grok, which also posted antisemitic tropes and praise for Adolf Hitler, sparking outrage and renewed scrutiny of Musk’s approach to AI moderation.
