The latest in Musk's DOGE takeover sees the Tesla CEO in charge of the computer system managing government personnel.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday to create a U.S. sovereign wealth fund and suggested that it could be used to purchase TikTok. Trump has said previously it could be funded by "tariffs and other intelligent things," per Reuters. Trump signed an executive order last month to delay the TikTok ban deadline by 75 days.

Musk is working for Trump as a "special government employee," which means he's not subject to the same ethics and disclosure rules that are typical of government workers.

The group wasn't trying to enter the federal premises in a violent takeover, but rather act as a wall of defense between the government agency and a directive to cease the organization's work as a matter of fiduciary foresight. Later that afternoon, the USAID office shut down. The official USAID website is no longer available.

At a signing ceremony in the Oval Office on Feb. 3, President Trump said that Elon Musk "won't do anything" without his administration's approval.
