Severe erosion caused by Australia's Tropical Cyclone Alfred revealed parts of a ship that was washed ashore along a beach about 130 years ago.

A kangaroo called “Skippy" was rescued after Tropical Cyclone Alfred recently battered Australia, producing heavy rains and flash flooding along the coast.

Alfred – which was downgraded from a cyclone before it made landfall – has turned beaches into cliffs. Erosion is so extreme that long, steep slopes up to six-metres high have formed. At least one person was killed and four others remain missing,

"Eligible workers and sole traders in Southeast Queensland and New South Wales who've lost income as a direct result of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred will be able to access up to 13 weeks of income support," Albanese said in a media conference on Monday.
