A state of emergency remains in effect for NYC, Long Island and Westchester County as a weekend nor’easter is slamming portions of the Tri-State area with heavy rain, strong winds and coastal flooding.
According to Jay Engle, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Upton, New York, the city should expect “widespread” minor to moderate coastal flooding of 1.5-2.5 feet; “major flooding” is forecast for Long Island, as of Saturday morning.
Sneaky storms may creep from the middle and western parts of the US to the East Coast, bringing heaps of snow along with them.

The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood warning and wind advisory for New York City, Long Island, and southern Westchester County through at least Monday afternoon. Suburban coastal areas of Long Island could experience flooding, with up to 3 inches of rain and high winds, according to the weather service.
In addition to winds capable of triggering power outages and enhancing coastal flooding, the storm is expected to produce rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches in and around the city.
