Russian President Vladimir Putin does not want to end the war in Ukraine, Donald Trump has said as he raised the prospect of more sanctions on Russia. The U.S. president told reporters aboard Air Force One that he was "very unhappy" with his earlier phone call with the Russian leader as Moscow said it would continue to pursue its war aims.

Trump, who campaigned on ending the war between Russia and Ukraine, has become less involved in dealmaking between the two countries.

During a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump on July 3, Russian President Vladimir Putin said "Russia will continue to pursue its goals" in the war against Ukraine, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said.
