STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The coastal storm forecast to impact New York City on Sunday and Monday is slated to bring gusty winds, rain and the threat of coastal flooding. As previously reported, coastal flooding is a major concern for those coastal communities from the Battery in Manhattan down south, including the east shore of Staten Island.

Nor’easter threatens NYC this weekend with heavy rain, winds l Forecast
NEW YORK CITY - A powerful area of low pressure is expected to develop along the East Coast this weekend, packing heavy rain and high winds that potentially could impact the New York City area. The coastal storm will likely be of the nor’easter variety, meaning it will pack strong winds that blow from the northeast and heavy precipitation.
According to Jay Engle, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Upton, New York, the city should expect “widespread” minor to moderate coastal flooding of 1.5-2.5 feet; “major flooding” is forecast for Long Island, as of Saturday morning.
Showers and storms will move through the tri-state area Thursday and Thursday night before conditions dry out on Friday. Isolated storms could become severe or cause isolated flooding. According to the National Weather Service in New York,
