NEW YORK CITY - A powerful area of low pressure is expected to develop along the East Coast this weekend, packing heavy rain and high winds that potentially could impact the New York City area. The coastal storm will likely be of the nor’easter variety, meaning it will pack strong winds that blow from the northeast and heavy precipitation.
A massive nor’easter coming onshore in New England is spinning rain through the eastern part of New York State, with the very edge occasionally brushing Western New York. Expect a few hundredths of an inch of rain.
The National Weather Service issued a more severe forecast of an oncoming nor'easter by the late afternoon on Saturday, Oct. 11. Updated alerts have increased the risk associated with wind gusts and flooding along coastal areas of New Jersey.
