STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The coastal storm forecast to impact New York City on Sunday and Monday is slated to bring gusty winds, rain and the threat of coastal flooding. As previously reported, coastal flooding is a major concern for those coastal communities from the Battery in Manhattan down south, including the east shore of Staten Island.
Lorenzo was a tropical storm in the North Atlantic Ocean early Monday Eastern time, the National Hurricane Center said in its latest advisory. Lorenzo is the 12th named storm to form in the Atlantic in 2025.
All of New Jersey has been under a state of emergency since Saturday night. It’s expected to last into Monday, authorizing the state’s emergency services personnel to be activated as necessary.
