Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath's choice to play a final reunion gig in Birmingham has been described as a "homecoming" that recognises the city's status in music culture. The music icons will headline a one-day festival at Villa Park on 5 July dubbed "the greatest heavy metal show ever".

Ozzy Osbourne will reunite with all of the original members of Black Sabbath for the first time in 20 years, in a gig that will be his last and that’s being billed as the “greatest” heavy metal show ever.

One band that’s been notorious for this over the years was none other than Black Sabbath’s original lineup of Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne, and Bill Ward. By my count they’d done a couple “final shows”, but this morning’s announcement of “The Final Show” in Birmingham, U.K. certainly feels like a terminus for the band.

The show will take place at Villa Park in Aston, Birmingham on July 5 and feature the last-ever live performances from The Prince Of Darkness and Black Sabbath’s original lineup: Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward.
