Federal regulators have closed an investigation into what went wrong when a SpaceX Starship spacecraft — part of the most powerful launch system ever constructed — exploded during a January test flight.

When SpaceX's Starship takes off next time from South Texas, it will have a few touch-ups from the last time the rocket launched in January and rained flaming debris down near the Turks and Caicos Islands.

The FAA has authorized the SpaceX Starship Flight 8 launch while probing the Flight 7 incident. The mission involves a Super Heavy booster return to the launch site and a Starship water landing. Earlier,
