Anxious families of hostages have called for a “nationwide day of stoppage” in Israel on Sunday to express growing frustration over 22 months of war.

Israel's military called up tens of thousands of reservists on Wednesday in preparation for an expected assault on Gaza City, as the Israeli government considered a new proposal for a ceasefire after nearly two years of war.

The military says troops are already operating in some areas ahead of the planned operation to occupy all of the city.
