WNBA and Atlanta Dream star player Brittney Griner, 34, canceled a recent speaking engagement in Maryland after discovering a concerning note in her hotel room.

WNBA star Brittney Griner pulled out of speaking engagement earlier this week after finding a piece of tape in her hotel room with the words “Gay Baby Jail” written on it.

The WNBA star found a piece of duct tape with the words “Gay Baby Jail” inside her room at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Maryland, organizers said

Griner, who had spent nine months imprisoned in Russia on possession charges before her release, was slated to speak at the Women Grow Leadership Summit in National Harbor, Maryland. However, on Monday morning, she abruptly withdrew from the event after discovering what she perceived as a threatening message duct-taped to her hotel room wall.

Organizers of the event say a piece of duct tape with a message was perceived to be a threat. Police question if Brittney Griner was targeted.
