The Arizona Cardinals’ head coach search faces a setback as the Miami Dolphins move closer to hiring Jeff Hafley, a rumored finalist for the job.
In the NFL world, no team is a better punching bag than the Arizona Cardinals. 105-year history of disappointment and year number 106 isn’t looking much better.
One school of thought being floated about the Cardinals is that a new coach could very well believe the return of Kyler Murray gives the team its best chance of having success in 2026 and if it doesn’t work out, a new signal-caller would arrive in 2027.
McDermott feels like a prime candidate to get the Cardinals out from the bottom of the NFL standings. He had seven straight 10+ win season with the Bills, and while their roster is clearly head and shoulders above Arizona's, there's still some solid pieces for McDermott to work with.
