The sand is soft and perfect for relaxing or taking a nice walk on the beach. The water is clear and there is little seaweed however it is very cold so I personally wouldn't plan on swimming long. In…Full review by RoseInTheDesert

The beach slopes up to the sidewalk not requiring steps. Further down the sand hills are steeper

Most restaurants and shops in Carmel are very dog-friendly. I ate at at least three different restaurants when I stayed there this weekend, brought my dog every single time, most of them will also have water bowls and dog treats. Additionally, you can find detailed maps of the town with every shop, restaurant and Inn drawn on them, (yes, the map is hand-drawn by a local artist, apparently) and the map shows a little paw print on all the dog-friendly places, which as I said, are most of them. I hope this helps, and in case you've already been there, I hope you had a lovely time.

I BELIEVE only on Carmel Beach. However there are new restrictions re bonfires on Carmel Beach. Best to call City of Carmel or Carmel Police Department to clarify all. No bonfires allowed on State Beach (aka Carmel River Beach) Don't think volleyball is a problem on either. Have fun!!
