Very interesting rock formations. Driving trail is very rough and could damage a car without 4-wheel drive. Two really interesting and informative museums. Nice gift shop with many Indian crafts b…Full review by Stella M

We did a sunset tour and it was one of the most amazing places on earth. We felt we were in another planet. The tour guide was amazing and it helped that it was just us on the tour.Full review by Manisha W

I drove my Ford Edge through the route, going about 10 mph. Quite bumping, some roadways were narrow allowing 1 car through at a time. They do offer "off road" tours that are in a open jeep, I wouldn't recommend as it was VERY dusty in July. At one point, the dust was so bad I couldn't see the car 15 feet in front of me!!! Not sure about places to stay although there is a lodge there but probably expensive. We stayed in Page as we were sightseeing several other places ~ North Rim, Four Corners, Horseshoe Bend, etc.

at the entrance is a visitor center and shop. we went last fall, driving from Moab, so it was probably late morning, early afternoon. no sign of limited entrance so maybe it's the time of year or time of day. I would assume you wait in the parking lot? keep in mind, we were constantly checking the time and were and hour off because of Arizona no day lite saving time. the entire trip thru the parks was one big "what time is it"? kind of trip.

Is this just a drive through tour? I lived in Chinle, AZ in the 70s teaching and wanted my husband to experience the beauty of this country. I will look more for the attractions and how to become involved in them this weekend. We will be traveling from Durango on Sunday, Oct. 6, I guess go through Cortez and down. We will need to spend the night and I am looking for recommendations for lodging in the area.

we did Monument Valley as a drive thru one day on our way from Moab UT to Page AZ. We did however stop at Goulding's Lodge, where there is a gift shop, restaurant and a motel. Not sure what town you are referring to. Monument Valley seemed very isolated to me, there is a visitor center and rest rooms thru out but I can't say to facilities. Most likely you would need to find something in one of the town's along the way, Mexican Hat. Plus I did notice camp grounds too.
