WEBJun 14, 2003 · Unlike HBO, Showtime is currently available as a standalone from most MVPDs. HBO started life as the primary draw to the streaming service (then called HBO Max). Comparisons that it will be the same deal as Max doesn't seem reasonable the way given that Paramount+ was the big draw and Showtime was a secondary offering.

Honestly, if I didn't have an elderly parent, I would probably have gone all streaming already, but with the current pandemic status, internet bandwidth is hammered with everybody working from home and schooling from home and streaming reloading how-to videos.
